With a track record of around 20,000 Mohs MIcrographic Surgeries and many thousands of other skin cancer surgeries performed, Dr. Connolly is one of the most experienced skin cancer surgeons in the U.S. and is the most experienced skin cancer surgeon in New Jersey. Patients have traveled from all over the world to access his surgical skills and expert care. Dr. Connolly is board certified in Mohs sugery and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.

Training

Dr. Connolly spent two years training with Dr. Michael Albom at N.Y.U. Medical center to learn the Mohs technique after he had completed his dermatology residency and passed his boards. During that training, he worked with his mentor on over 1400 patients. Unfortunately, many of the doctors performing the Mohs technique in New Jersey learned how to do it at a weekend course and then proceeded to practice on their unsuspecting patients. Before anyone performs Mohs surgery on you or your family, ask them how long was their fellowship in Mohs surgery. If they didn't do a fellowship, their credentials are suspect.

Our practice concentrates only on skin cancer treatment, prevention, and early detection not expensive laser and other cosmetic procedures as do other practices where skin cancer therapy is an afterthought.

Conservatism

Dr. Connolly evaluates all skin cancers individually and decides in consultation with the patient and family what treatment is best suited for that lesion in that patient.

Stability

Dr. Connolly has been in practice in the same building for over 20 years. He is not an inexperienced Mohs surgeon working on a per diem basis for many different dermatology practices until he can sustain a stable practice on his own.
